Sustainability Advisor role

Are you a sustainability/environmental professional with corporate or sustainability consulting experience and seeking a new challenge ?

Are you seeking an opportunity as 2IC to the Head of Sustainability within a leading corporate ? Alternatively, you may be seeking a role that encompasses a mixture of internal EMS management, a component of strategy (contributing to annual sustainability strategy), management of external and internal stakeholders, a communications focus and an ability to implement practical solutions across the group. This role would suit somebody with 2 – 5 years experience in this field seeking a role that would allow them to develop over the next 3 – 5 years into an executive in this area. This organisation is also supportive of Post Graduate study after a period of time with the company.

The organisation we are representing is extremely well known and has the dominant product in its category. They are seeking to find innovative ways to communicate their offering in a manner that best utilises their online presence, while reducing the need to print as many physical products for their business and consumer markets in the long term.

Reporting to the Group Manager, Corporate Responsibility, the Sustainability Adviser will be responsible for the following areas:

  • Group wide environmental and sustainability initiatives, including the climate change strategy
  • The product recycling program (take-back of consumer product) and managing the partnerships with external stakeholders (Not for Profits, Government and other partners)
  • Development of a Green Office program in the Sydney office and implementation
  • Product Stewardship improvements across the entire Life Cycle that aim to reduce the environmental impact and also improve organisational reputation

The ideal candidate:

You will have experience in the development of external partnerships with government or NGO’s, communications experience in this area (strong written and communications experience), experience in the evaluation and management of an existing Environmental Management (EMS) system, stakeholder management and staff engagement experience around corporate environmental projects and exposure to Life Cycle/Product Stewardship. Demonstrated lateral thinking and planning skills, a “can-do attitude”, common sense and an ability to work autonomously is crucial.

With under-graduate qualifications (preferably gained in Environment, Communications, Business or sustainability), you are a confident communicator that is outcome focused and can demonstrate strong influencing skills.

Salary

$80 - $85 K
