BRS is seeking a Senior Scientist within the Fisheries and Marine Sciences Program. The successful candidate will be partly responsible for a team providing scientific advice on demersal and pelagic fishery resources in the high seas and Australian Fishing Zone, particularly with respect to assessing stock status.
The successful applicant should have a record of achievement in the field of quantitative fisheries or marine sciences and a demonstrated ability to apply these skills to the development of public policy. You should have the ability to exercise professional judgement and initiative in the application and adaptation of scientific principles, techniques and methods in solving complex scientific fisheries issues to develop and promote public policy advice. You will need sound communication and liaison skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
Eligibility
This successful applicant should hold a Higher Degree in a relevant discipline and/or demonstrated relevant experience in quantitative fisheries science, and have expertise in fisheries and marine sciences.
