Duties: The Deputy Regional Conservator supports the Regional Conservator, Kangaroo Island Region in the strategic management of key Departmental services in one of the State's most pristine natural landscapes and major tourism destinations, Kangaroo Island. The position will assist the Regional Conservator to ensure that Government objectives for biodiversity conservation, management of reserves and other State managed lands and waters, nature based tourism and recreation, and heritage conservation are achieved. The Deputy Regional Conservator provides leadership to a team of professional, scientific, conservation, commercial and administrative staff that significantly contribute to the State's tourism and biodiversity conservation objectives. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a broad range of skills and abilities including: strategic planning, fire management, park management planning, financial and business management operations, as well as strong leadership capabilities.

Special Conditions: Refer to Job and Person Specification. The Department may determine to appoint at either ASO7 or ASO8 remuneration level dependant upon experience and skills set.
