WWF-Australia, the conservation organisation, is seeking a Senior Conservation Officer – Project Planning to coordinate the activity of a systematic conservation planning project which identifies priority areas for conservation action across Southwest Australia in order to develop a conservation strategy for the region.

WWF-Australia’s conservation activities are managed as a matrix of themes, approaches and programs. Within the context of WWF’s Global Programme Framework, the WWF Conservation Strategy and its Strategic Outcome Areas define the strategic direction of the organisation’s conservation work and guide the development of programs to protect key biodiversity assets for the future, manage the human impacts on biodiversity to sustainable levels and restore degraded ecosystems, threatened species and threatened ecological communities.

The project region is the Southwest Australia Ecoregion, a large region >495,000 sq. km, stretching from Shark Bay to Esperance and east to the WA border. The region is Australia’s only globally significant biodiversity hotspot, one of five globally significant mediterranean regions, and a WWF Global Priority Framework priority place for WWF investment and conservation action.
