To co-ordinate the operations of the Airlie Beach Management Unit and to support the Operations Manager in the administration and management of Island National Parks, State and Commonwealth Marine Parks and nature conservation matters generally.

 

Job details

*Manage a workforce effectively to ensure they receive professional development and are appropriately skilled to achieve required outcomes.
*Maintain, manage and report on financial, assets and infrastructure.
*Develop, implement and report on communication strategies for the management and conservation of wildlife.
*Monitor and report on annual work schedules and programs including fire management, wildlife management, feral animal plans and weed management programs plans.
*Promote protected areas and marine parks, and facilitate an appreciation of all aspects of nature conservation.
*Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders including neighbouring landholders, other government departments and local Indigenous communities.

JOB SKILL REQUIREMENT

To successfully do this job, it is critical that you can demonstrate sound abilities in the following skills and knowledge areas:

1.Management  – people, resources and systems;
2. Relevant environmental legislation such as the Nature Conservation Act 1992;
3.Natural and cultural resource management;
4.Analytical, research and problem solving; and
5.Communication and liaison – especially within the area of providing advice.

It is highly desirable that the successful applicant has knowledge of Nature Conservation Act 1992 and Marine Park Act 2004.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS

You must have a driver’s licence and be prepared to obtain a manual licence.
