As a Project Officer with the Department of Natural Resource and Water (NRW) in Queensland’s thriving South East Region, you will have the opportunity to collect and interpret water resource information and provide technical advice to regional business units, other state government agencies, local government, regional natural resource management bodies, community groups and industry groups. You will be part of a team of innovative and highly regarded science professionals who play a critical role in supporting NRW’s role in leading effective and responsible allocation, management and use of our land, water and vegetation resources.

Your Key Accountabilities
• Co-ordinate Water Services activities within designated parts of the South East Region.
• Provide input into, and co-ordination of, consultant studies on particular issues associated with the development and implementation of Water Plans.
• Undertake or co-ordinate studies and collect data relevant to catchment and aquifer hydrology, water entitlements, riverine ecology and socio-economic impacts.
• Liaise and negotiate with stakeholders, community, departmental staff and other organisations in progressing Water Planning project objectives.
• Organise, facilitate and provide input into meetings, workshops and forums to facilitate stakeholder input into, and implementation of Water Plans.
• Prepare reports, correspondence, work programs and budgets as required to ensure that planning initiatives meet the required timing, technical and budgetary outcomes.
