The Department of Sustainability and Environment is Victoria’s primary government agency responsible for promoting and managing the sustainability of the natural environment. As Executive Director Forests and Parks you will report directly to the Secretary, DSE, and as a member of the executive management team assist the organisation develop and deliver its strategic directions in an issue rich environment. As Executive Director you will have responsibility for Forests and Parks within the DSE portfolio.

We are seeking a candidate with a commitment to leadership roles with government, and experience in making high-level risk-based judgements, including in negotiations with commercial and not-for-profit organisations. Other relevant skills include the ability to communicate complex issues in a simple and decision-oriented fashion, in both public and private sector forums.

In this high profile role, you lead DSE’s representation, collaboratively with Parks Victoria as the source of high quality advice on the management of Park and Forest issues across the portfolio, and work across the State and Commonwealth government. You will have high level corporate management experience and a track record of achievement in one or more of public policy development, program management, or communication.
