Position Vacant Environment & Recreation Officer

Shellharbour City offers coastal, urban and rural lifestyles in one of the fastest growing regions of NSW.  Located just 1 1/2 hours south of Sydney, we serve a growing population of 63,000 people in an area of 154 square kilometres. 
We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative person to join our team.  You will work with our Environment and Recreation Team to undertake a variety of tasks including:       
  • Environment and recreation projects        
  • Environmental monitoring and assessments       
  • Community consultation and environmental education services 
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:       
  • Degree qualification in Environmental Science or related field        
  • At least two years relevant work experience        
  • Excellent customer service, negotiating, written and verbal communication skills        
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Environmental, OH&S & other relevant legislation       
  • Ability to use computer software including the Microsoft Office suite 
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Demonstrated integrity, enthusiasm, commitment and innovation 
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:        
  • Three or more years relevant work experience        
  • Demonstrated experience in applying the principles of sustainability, including water and energy conservation        
  • Experience or interest in Natural Resource Management including biodiversity conservation and bush fire management        
  • Knowledge of environment and recreation management issues          
  • Experience in preparation and assessment of environmental reports
  • Supervision of Staff/Contractors        
  • Current driver’s licence (Class C)        
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Local Government activities and responsibilities        
  • Demonstrated ability to meet project time budget and quality targets 
This is a permanent full time position and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government State Award and Council's policies and procedures. The position is a Grade 16-17 with a salary range of $1030.30 - $1153.72 per week depending on qualifications, skills and experience. Salary

$1030.30-$1153.72 per week
