Water Campaign Australia™ Manager

With 120 Australia local governments participating in the Water Campaign™ and six dedicated staff located in ICLEI Oceania offices around Australia, we are looking for an experienced and professional person to take on the role of Water Campaign™ Manager (location is negotiable). This is a full time contract (1.0FTE) until 30 June 2009, with the possibility of extending the contract when further funding is granted.

The Water Campaign aims to build the capacity of local government to reduce water consumption and improve local water quality. Local government participation in the Water Campaign demonstrates leadership to the community in conserving water and improving the quality of water entering Australian waterways.

 


The Water Campaign Manager:

  • Oversees the day-to-day operation of the program
  • Manages staff across four locations around Australia
  • Manages the funding contracts, and budget, of the program
  • Manages the development and delivery of the program
  • Manages individual projects and strategic relationships
  • Identifies funding opportunities and assists with the drafting of proposals


This position reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer.

Key Selection Criteria

To be considered for this position, please address the following key selection criteria in your application.

1. Qualifications

  • Degree in Water Resource Management is preferred
  • Post graduate studies in planning, business management, science, engineering, environment will be highly regarded

2. Demonstrated Workplace Experience

  • Experience in a variety of project, strategic and sustainability/environmental roles (a minimum of three years is desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience in project management (awareness-raising projects and water issue projects will be highly regarded)
  • Demonstrated experience in aspects of client management and budget management is essential

3. Staff Management

  • Experience in managing or leading teams is essential
  • Experience in management of remote staff is desirable
  • Demonstrated knowledge or EEO and OHS policy

4. Technical Knowledge:

  • Has significant specialised knowledge and a demonstrated understanding of water management and related natural resource management issues
  • Knowledge of best-practice organisational management and organizational planning and reporting principles and processes is highly desirable

5. Local Government

  • Knowledge and appreciation of local government operational frameworks and processes, and its response to environment, specifically water and sustainability issues is highly regarded.

6. Computer Competence

  • Proven computer skills are essential including the use of e-mail and the Internet, demonstrated ability to work with Microsoft environments.

7. Communication

  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including public speaking, delivering training, and other group communications is essential
  • Highly developed writing skills, including the ability to produce high quality and well-written curriculum material is essential

Salary

$72,291 (pro rata) plus 9% superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading.
