An exciting new opportunity has arisen within the Waikato Area for a highly motivated person to contribute to the implementation of the Waikato River Conservation Accord recently signed between Waikato Tainui and the Department of Conservation.
A key focus of the position is the development and maintenance of relationships with Waikato Tainui iwi to implement the vision of restoring the Waikato River, as well as playing a key role in delivering this vision on the ground through biodiversity work programmes.
To be successful in this position you will need to demonstrate an ability to establish and maintain relationships with iwi, colleagues, external agencies and landowners. This is a challenging position that would suit a person who enjoys working collaboratively and is competent in multi-tasking.
This position requires a thorough understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, tikanga, and biodiversity/freshwater ecosystem management.
A Full New Zealand motor vehicle drivers licence is essential.
A tertiary qualification or equivalent work based experience, in ecology or natural resource management is desirable.
