TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM COORDINATOR (AUSTRALIA)
BASED MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA
Purpose
You will be primarily responsible for robust engagement with government and business members of The Climate Group in the implementation of the Australian component of our global LED public outdoor lighting market transformation initiative, LightSavers. This will involve ongoing management of three LED lighting trials in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, as well as input to the global events, research and publications of the program. In addition, you will be involved in engaging with government and business members of The Climate Group to accelerate the uptake of other low‐carbon technologies in the built environment, through collaboration with our Technology Deployment programmes, including Smart Cities and electric vehicles. You will be expected to work closely with colleagues in Melbourne and internationally, including our Head of Lighting Programme (based Toronto) and with the Australian manager of our States and Regions program.
LightSavers Programme Management:
- Lead and oversee three trials of public, outdoor LED lighting in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, as part of the global trial involving 12 cities worldwide
- Work closely with the global LightSavers team on the publication of results and event management
- Coordinate and implement a local public survey of attitudes to LED lighting in the trials
- Work closely with the communications team to ensure appropriate dissemination of trial aims and results
- Maintain a working knowledge of the industry and policy settings, and contribute to our global research
- Development and oversight of any strategic initiatives in Australia that are required to support transformation to more sustainable forms of public outdoor lighting
Media and Communications for LightSavers:
- Contributing to the output of a regular newsletter for the relevant stakeholders keeping them abreast of developments in LightSavers
- Responsible for coordination of the LightSavers programme’s key messages in Australia
- Facilitating and responding to media enquiries and liaising with team members and partners on media requests around LightSavers
Engagement in broader Technology Development programmes:
- Further develop and effectively manage relationships around our Technology Deployment programmes
- Participate in determining the direction of development of relationships in Australia to enhance the programmes
- Support development of the content for workshops and events and identifying key partners and stakeholders to invite to programme events
- Manage stakeholder contact and engagement strategy for the programme, including ‘interest lists’ and core partners and contacts
Key Skills
- The successful candidate will have a relevant degree with a minimum of four years post qualification experience. Broad understanding of climate change science and policy are a pre‐requisite. A basic understanding of low carbon technologies and the process of technology commercialisation is desirable. You will have a proven track record in project and client management in the corporate and/or government sectors.
- You will have the ability to prioritise workloads for yourself and others, often under pressure. Highly developed interpersonal skills are a must. Specifically, knowledge of outdoor LED lighting technologies and the market and policy barriers in Australia will be beneficial.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills is a must.
- Proven presentation skills are also required.
