Fairfield City Council is a world leader in waste recovery, recycling and education and has achieved up to an 80% diversion of waste to landfill with the introduction of the new 'UR3R' facility located at Eastern creek and through other innovative projects. We are currently seeking to appoint an Environmental Project Officer to help carry out the challenging projects within the waste education and projects branch.
THE POSITION: This position requires a highly motivated person to identify and implement a range of environmental education awareness programs to target client groups including; local residents, school children and non-english speaking groups.
The role is a combination of education, promotion and presentations to the public to build greater community awareness of environmental issues. The role also includes the co-ordination and delivery of grant projects which includes the Fairfield Urban Sustainability Hub and other grant funded projects.
ESSENTIAL: Applicants must posses a tertiary qualification in environmental studies, education or equivalent. Applicants must demonstrate project management skills including the planning, promotion and management of programs targeting specific sustainability, waste minimisation and/or other environmental issues. They must have knowledge and understanding of current waste management and/or related environmental issues.
