Marine Agency, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai, UAE - The mission of the Marine Agency is to use teamwork to prepare legislations, draft studies, license and run the safe marine transport systems integrated with other transport systems, develop and apply the related technical criteria according to best international practices.

 

The vacancy is based within the Marine Planning & Business Development Section of the Maritime Projects Department. The position requires liaison with the other two departments of the Marine Agency:· Registration and Licensing; and Operations and Maintenance. The Maritime Projects Department consists of the following sections:

 

  1. Marine Planning & Business Development Section.
  2. Marine infrastructure projects Section.
  3. Marine ship builder Section.

Objective of this department is to implement and operate a new water transport system for Dubai that integrates into a multimodal transport system which will eventually fulfill the Road and Transport Authority's vision for "safe and smooth transport to all". The new public water transport system would complement the existing Abra creek crossing system and would provide ferry services for the Emirate of Dubai along the Dubai creek and coast to the new offshore land developments.QualificationsAt least 10 years professional experience in environment protection, in addition to Masters’ Degree or PhD;

General Skills

 

  1. Ability to target team goals in leadership or support roles;
  2. Planning and problem solving within general project management skills;
  3. Flexibility and commitment to learning new skills, for example, conduct of patronage surveys for the proposed Public Water Transportation System (PWTS) and communicate results;
  4. Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral);
  5. Internal and external stakeholder identification and liaison;
  6. Experience in the Gulf Environment would be highly regarded.

 Technical Skills

  1. Ability to project manage and contribute to technical content of EIAs and marine environmental surveys for proposed PWTS;
  2. Prepare and conduct audits of current operations to ensure compliance with relevant legislation;
  3. Develop and implement initiatives and controls to improve environment and sustainability on existing and planned PWTS;
  4. Promotion of risk management procedures and culture;
  5. Conduct research and attend conferences to get the latest information regarding how to benefit PWTS and the environment;
  6. Maintain
    a library that contains relevant marine publications that might be used
    as reference. Catalogue the library and manage the database of
    information.
  7. Specific experience associated with the operation of coastal infrastructure and vessels would be highly regarded;

Salary
