The Moreland Energy Foundation Limited (MEFL) is a unique community based organisation that works across all sectors of the community to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. MEFL develops and delivers leading edge projects, training, community education, technology trials, policy and advocacy work and provides direct advice to households, businesses and community organisations. This role will provide assistance to the recently funded Moreland Solar City initiative.

 

Purpose of role:

The primary focus of this role is to coordinate the development and implementation of strategic energy management approaches for commercial and community facilities. In particular, the incumbent will drive an energy management strategy for Moreland City Council’s facilities and assets. The Project Specialist – Commercial Buildings will provide technical services and financial advice and will assist building managers and business owners to make their sites more sustainable. The role will ensure MEFL’s current service offerings continue to meet the changing needs of businesses, Council and community organisations, and that the materials and resources supporting these services remain relevant and up to date.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience in energy efficiency and the sustainable design sector, including relevant regulatory and policy frameworks, passive design principles and practical strategies for greenhouse emission reduction
• The ability to deliver technical services in sustainability assessment and energy rating including thermal performance
• Demonstrated experience in working with diverse communities and in partnership with government bodies
• Excellent written and verbal communication with a high level of attention to detail
• Degree or higher qualification in science, social science, engineering, building design or other relevant discipline (TAFE or other qualifications may be adequate if highly relevant to the position)

Suitable candidates must have a strong interest in sustainable building design, environmental assessment and energy efficiency, with a focus on working with the community to achieve environmental outcomes. MEFL will support the right candidate to become a leader in the field of commercial and community facility sustainability. They may come from a range of backgrounds including community-based organisations, not-for-profit, government, corporate or agency sectors.  

Salary

A starting salary of approximately $52,000 is being offered for this role
