The Moreland Energy Foundation Limited (MEFL) is a unique community based organisation that works across all sectors of the community to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. MEFL develops and delivers leading edge projects, training, community education, technology trials, policy and advocacy work and provides direct advice to households, businesses and community organisations. This role will provide assistance to the recently funded Moreland Solar City initiative.

 

Purpose of role:

The primary focus of this role is to develop and deliver technical services to help householders, designers and developers make more sustainable homes and housing stock generally. The Specialist – Residential Buildings will ensure MEFL’s current service offerings continue to meet the changing needs of the sector and that the materials and resources supporting these services remain relevant and up to date.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

• The enthusiasm to become a recognised leader in residential sustainability
• Some experience in energy efficiency and the sustainable design sector, including relevant regulatory and policy frameworks, passive design principles and practical strategies for greenhouse emission reduction
• The ability to develop and deliver technical services in sustainability assessment and energy rating including thermal performance
• Demonstrated experience in working with diverse communities
• Excellent written and verbal communication with a high level of attention to detail
• Degree or higher qualification in science, social science, engineering, building design or other relevant discipline (TAFE or other qualifications may be adequate if highly relevant to the position)

Suitable candidates must have a keen interest in sustainable building design, environmental assessment and energy efficiency, with a focus on working with the community to achieve environmental outcomes. The right candidate may come from a range of backgrounds including community-based organisations, not-for-profit, government, corporate or agency sectors. This is an exciting opportunity. MEFL will support the right person to become a recognized leader in residential building sustainability.  

Salary

A salary of approximately $52,000 is being offered for this role.
