This position provides administrative and operational support to the development and implementation of wildlife management programs and ensures the effective application of the Territory Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act in accordance with other associated legislation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Implement approved wildlife management programs for the effective management of problem animals, the sustainable use of wildlife and the conservation of biodiversity.
2. Undertake fieldwork for effective data collection and to sort specimens in the laboratory as required.
3. Implement law enforcement and compliance activities with regard to the wildlife permit system and wildlife offences under the Territory Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act.
4. Maintain electronic information including geographical information systems, databases and records systems for collating, processing and retrieving information on enforcement and compliance activities, biodiversity conservation, and wildlife management.
5. Assist in preparing Policy, Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures for operational activities in response to wildlife management programs and public liaison.
6. Contribute to the effective administration of the work unit in terms of budget preparation, financial management and the responsible use of resources.
