To assess Development Applications on freehold and State-owned land and make recommendations to the delegated officer concerning the approval, refusal and conditioning of permits to develop and clear land. To provide advice to Natural Resources & Water (NRW) customers in relation to the administration of State Government’s Statutory Framework for Vegetation Management (includes legislation & policy interpretation and guidance).

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Selection Criterion 1 – Knowledge of, or ability to rapidly acquire a knowledge of, Queensland’s Vegetation Management statutory framework including legislation, policies, guidelines, application assessment procedures and planning initiatives. Weighting 25%
Selection Criterion 2 - Demonstrated skills and knowledge necessary to undertake desktop and on-ground land resource and/or biodiversity conservation planning assessments and knowledge of the role that native vegetation and its management contribute to the maintenance of ecosystem processes, biodiversity and sustainable agricultural production. Weighting 25%
Selection Criterion 3 - Demonstrated high-level communication skills, both internally and externally, with particular abilities in the areas of negotiation and consultation, and to represent the Department in a professional capacity within a diverse customer base. Weighting 25%
Selection Criterion 4 – Demonstrated ability to work as an integral part of an effective regional team, to contribute to team development, business improvement and performance through enthusiasm, participation, innovation and a positive attitude. Weighting 25%

DELEGATIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Human Resource Delegation Level 5
“If approved, this position will hold a maximum Financial Delegation of Level 5 from the Director-General under the Financial Administration and Audit act 1977”
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has additional responsibilities under the following legislation to ensure a safe, fair and equitable workplace:
