The successful person will be responsible for the management of protected areas and forest estates to conserve natural and cultural resources. You will also take a proactive role in promoting awareness, appreciation and understanding of conservation values to park users and facilitate the use of protected areas and forest estates for recreational, cultural and scientific purposes as specified in the Nature Conservation Act 1992 and Forestry Act 1959.

Job details 

  • Lead and manage a team of Rangers.
  • Report on the implementation of annual work schedules and budget, and undertake administrative tasks such as purchasing goods, services and materials.
  • Develop and implement plans and programs including fire management, wildlife management feral animal plans and weed management programs.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders including neighbouring landholders, other government departments and local Indigenous communities. And plan, co-ordinate and implement public interpretative programs.
  • Plan, develop and implement infrastructure development and maintenance projects.
  • Perform law enforcement and compliance activities, and plan and co-ordinate contingency responses such as search and rescue operations.

Skills, knowledge and experience you need

1.     Management of people, resources and systems.
2.     Communication skills especially in relation to staff management and community education.
3.     Natural and cultural resource management especially in the areas of Fire, weed and feral animal management, Building infrastructure management and cultural resource management.
4.     Time management.
5.     Project management.
6.     It would be highly desirable if you have knowledge or potential to rapidly acquire knowledge of the Nature Conservation Act 1992.

Mandatory Requirements

You must have a driver’s licence and be prepared to obtain a manual licence if required

Salary

Salary per annum:    $56932 - $59968
Salary per fortnight:    $2182.20 - $2298.60
