The purpose of this position is to assist in the development and implementation of water planning and management initiatives in the Gatton office area.

Selection Criteria:
Selection Criterion 1 – Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, legislation which relates to the management of water resources [ie the Water Act 2000 and the Integrated Planning Act 1997].
Selection Criterion 2 – Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, groundwater and surface water processes, their interrelationships and impacts on the management of the resources.
Selection Criterion 3 – Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with staff, clients, industry representatives and the general public, and the ability to participate in a team environment in a way that contributes to individual and team development.
Selection Criterion 4 – Proven ability to plan activities, meet deadlines and write reports and recommendations in a clear logical and concise manner including utilisation of related manual and computer based information management systems.
Selection Criterion 5 – Ability to analyse complex problems efficiently and effectively and make necessary arrangements to deal with conflicting demands for the sustainable use of water and associated resources.
Responsibilities relating to the Selection Criteria:
• Undertake and be responsible for regulatory functions associated with natural resource management in the South East Region, including provision of advice and investigation of complaints.
• Contribute to the formulation of regional guidelines, policies and procedures for water resource management to assist with the consistent application of legislation.
• Promote the sustainable use of water, with particular emphasis on groundwater, and other related resources to the general public, customers, staff and government agencies.
• Contribute to the development of water resource plans and resource operation plans within the region.
• Undertake and be responsible for regulatory functions associated with natural resource management in the South East Region, including provision of advice and investigation of complaints.
• Promote the sustainable use of water, with particular emphasis on groundwater, and other related resources to the general public, customers, staff and government agencies.
• Consult, liaise and provide advice to user groups, the general public, staff and Government agencies on water and resource management matters.
• Prepare draft responses to requests for information for the Minister for Natural Resources and Water, the Ombudsmen and other members of Parliament as required.
• Contribute to the development of water resource plans and resource operation plans within the region.
