You will be developing and presenting specialised Geographical Information Systems (GIS) products to help clients improve natural resource management in south east Queensland. You will also apply your skills and knowledge to landscape modelling in a GIS environment to improve our understanding of landscape degradation processes, such as salinity and erosion. The position requires you to perform detailed technical information management and GIS duties.

Your Key Accountabilities

•    Assist in the development, implementation and coordination of the South East Region’s natural resource information system.
•    Use relational databases, GIS and image processing software to capture, analyse and process data.
•    Provide specialist advice and support on spatial modelling of landscape processes.
•    Communicate complex scientific information to a variety of audiences.
•    Work with staff and clients on natural resource issues.

You will be assessed on the basis of the following:

•    Your ability to manage and analyse large scientific data sets.
•    Your knowledge of the use and application of remote sensing and modelling techniques.
•    Your understanding of landscape processes including catchment hydrology.
•    Your organisational and communication skills and ability to work with people.

Salary

Salary per annum:    $61946 - $67647
Salary per fortnight:    $2374.40 - $2592.90
