To provide high level guidance and environmental expertise to enable the District to meet the Department’s and the Governments environmental management commitments.

DUTIES:

  • Fulfil the role of the Region’s lead environmental representative on multiple road project delivery teams, providing advice about environmental assessment and management requirements in relation to planning, design, construction and/or maintenance projects. This will include the management of external consultants and specialists as required, and on in-house projects, lead the project environmental assessment.
  • Fulfil the role of the Region's lead representative for the management of road traffic noise within Metropolitan Region. This includes being the primary interface with the general public (and other external stakeholders) on this issue, and leading communications and correspondence for this issue.
  • Promote, foster and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and agencies concerned with the management of environment and cultural heritage issues in the state controlled road reserve.
  • Lead audits of environmental compliance on Main Roads road construction and maintenance contracts.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training for Regional staff and associated stakeholders.
  • Provide advice about the environmental impacts of development applications and any relevant legislative and departmental requirements.
  • Participate and represent the Region and the Department on various external working committees.
  • Project manage and or conduct research and development projects on transport related environmental issues as required.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of the Regional Environmental Management System and Practices.
  • Supervise environmental staff on road project work and other environmental work for the department, and provide a mentoring and coaching role to facilitate their development.

Salary

Salary per annum:    $70514 - $75917
Salary per fortnight:    $2702.80 - $2909.90
