Provide surface, groundwater and aquatic ecosystem monitoring service for the Department’s water services group by undertaking technical activities to Departmental specifications and standards, analysing data and providing natural resource information to internal and external natural resource managers and planners.

 

Selection Criteria:

Selection Criterion 1 –  Experience in and detailed knowledge of the techniques, methods and procedures used in the collection of surface water, water quality, aquatic ecosystem health and groundwater information and the storage, analysis and presentation of that information.

Selection Criterion 2 – Demonstrated ability to prioritise, plan and undertake monitoring activities.

Selection Criterion 3 – Experience and knowledge of Natural Resources management and planning including the monitoring components of water resource and resource operation plans.

Selection Criterion 4 – Ability to actively contribute as a member of a team, which may include Department of Natural Resources and Mines staff and persons from other organisations; and to communicate effectively in both oral and written form with clients and community based groups.

Responsibilities relating to the Selection Criteria:

•    Contribute to the development and implementation of new procedures, innovative technologies and systems as Departmental requirements change and new technology evolves.
•    Adopt the principles of the groups Quality Management System and a culture of continuous improvement.
•    Maintain and enhance monitoring technical expertise and skills.
•    Plan fieldwork associated with a number of projects operating simultaneously.
•    Monitor groundwater levels in a designated bore network at specified time intervals
•    Organise equipment and supplies for field and laboratory operations.
•    Conduct monitoring aligned to the outcomes of relevant Water Resource Plans and provide input into Resource Operation Plan monitoring.
•    Conduct routine groundwater data collection and associated maintenance of the groundwater network.
•    Provide quality advice and information in both oral and written form to the department and other agencies in relation to water monitoring and natural resource management and planning.
•    Provide quality advice and information in both oral and written form to community natural resource management groups in relation to water monitoring and natural resource management and planning.
•    Provide concise annual reports on monitoring outcomes.

Salary

Salary per annum:    $46071 - $58967
Salary per fortnight:    $1765.90 - $2260.20
