Within the framework of the NR&W Corporate Plan, to participate in natural resource science projects in line with departmental and client priorities primarily in the area of water science in the State.

Selection Criteria:

Selection Criterion 1 – Knowledge of research techniques, including experimental design, data collection, use of equipment and instrumentation, appropriate statistical analysis, scientific accuracy and integrity.
Selection Criterion 2 – Knowledge of field, laboratory and desktop techniques used for acquiring and storage of data relevant to aquatic ecosystems in Queensland.
Selection Criterion 3 – Ability to work effectively as an individual or part of a team and possession of good organisational skills.
Selection Criterion 4 – Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities relating to the Selection Criteria:

•    Undertake studies and monitor aspects of the ecology and water quality of freshwater streams and rivers throughout Queensland.
•    Where necessary undertake field collection of samples and other data as required.
•    Assist in acquisition and compilation of aquatic ecosystem information including environmental, water quality and/or taxonomic data.
•    Where necessary undertake field collection of samples and other data as required.
•    Assist in collating, evaluating and analysing (including statistical analysis) project data and communication of results and program outcomes.
•    Where necessary undertake field collection of samples and other data as required.
•    Assist in collating, evaluating and analysing (including statistical analysis) data and communication of results and program outcomes.
•    Undertake other duties as determined by the program’s Project Manager.
•    Develop work plans and complete tasks within a project timetable

•    Consult and liaise
•    Prepare reports and documentation on the project and information system as necessary.
•    Undertake other duties as determined by the program’s Project Manager.
•    Write and prepare clear and concise technical reports through the use of computer skills, particularly in database, statistical and word-processing software.

Salary

Salary per annum:    $46071 - $58967
Salary per fortnight:    $1765.90 - $2260.20
