The purpose of this role is to provide specialist technical advice on environmental management to enable the Department to meet its environmental management commitments. In so doing, the position is responsible for determining and guiding the Department towards best practice environmental management for road operations and stewardship of the state controlled road reserve.

Duties

Your role will be to manage projects throughout their life cycle by implementing efficient project management tools.

You will provide guidance on the scope and direction of project activities as well as being a key advisor to the project management teams with regards to environmental issues. You will contribute to the overall environmental management of your jurisdiction through the active participation in the development of environmental plans, policies and procedures.

Your major challenges will be:

• Working autonomously
• Understanding the environmental implications of engineering practices
• Obtaining knowledge and skills in a range of natural resources and public amenity issues
• Working in a risk management environment.

Using your technical knowledge and expertise, you will co-ordinate all relevant tasks to ensure successful completion of activities within time, quality, cost and stakeholder expectations. You will need to:

• Provide technical and specialist environmental advice to project managers and supervisors regarding implementation of environmental impact assessment and management and compliance, during the road concept, planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation phases

  • You can analyse problems in a logical, organised manner and generate solutions by identifying the problem, analysing causes, considering alternative outcomes and implementing solutions.

Salary

Salary per annum: $58403 - $63720
Salary per fortnight: $2238.60 - $2442.40
