Assist with land resource surveys throughout Queensland.

Selection Criteria:

Selection Criterion 1 – Knowledge of land resource survey processes, soil morphological descriptions, Australian classification systems, and field testing procedures.
Selection Criterion 2 – Knowledge of soils including knowledge of acid sulfate soils.
Selection Criterion 3 – Operate and maintain four wheel drive (4WD) vehicles and soil sampling equipment.
Selection Criterion 4 – Communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities relating to the Selection Criteria:

• Undertake soil surveys using specialised sampling equipment
• Undertake land resource assessment mapping projects
• Contribute to acid sulfate soil field training of both government and non government personnel
• Undertake soil profile descriptions and field tests
• Undertake soil (including acid sulfate soil) surveys throughout Queensland
• Undertake soil descriptions and field sampling
• Assist with soil map production
• Undertake other duties as determined by the Senior Land Resource Officer
• Participate in safe operating procedures associated with remote areas
• Operate 4WD vehicles, medium trucks and quadbikes with safety
• Utilise and maintain soil sampling equipment
• Undertake other duties as determined by the Senior Land Resource Officer
• Ability to liaise with government and non government representatives.
• Ability to use computer software packages to prepare reports and document projects as necessary using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)
• Assist with soil and land resource training workshops
• Assist with soil and land resource oriented technical reports and presentations
• Ensure that the information generated from land resource surveys is entered into departmental SALI (soil and land information) data bases and geographic information systems (ArcGIS)
• Undertake other duties as determined by the Senior Land Resources Officer

Salary

Salary per annum: $46071 - $58967
Salary per fortnight: $1765.90 - $2260.20
