To co-ordinate and manage the marine and terrestrial natural and cultural resource management outcomes in the North Queensland Marine Region.

Job details

• Provide a high level of professional advice on complex conservation issues including the protection, development and use of protected areas and marine parks in the region.
• Coordinate the development of natural and cultural resource management plans and strategies for island national parks, marine parks and wildlife. Plans may include fire management plans, pest plant and animal plans, cultural site plans and conservation project plans.
• Manage natural and cultural resource assessment and monitoring projects for protected areas and marine parks in the region, including in partnership with other institutions.
• Liaise, consult and negotiate with State and Local Government agencies, Traditional Owners, stakeholders and interest groups, in the development and implementation of operational plans and strategies for management of protected areas and marine parks in the region.
• Provide accurate and timely responses to Ministerial letters, briefing notes, information requests, correspondence, internal reporting requirements, annual business plan development and implementation, technical reports and legislative and policy advice.

Job Skill Requirements

1. Demonstrate a sound level ability to lead and manage a team and implement systems to promote performance management, ethical behaviour/decision-making and professional development.
2. Sound level knowledge of and skills in implementing the principles and practices governing the conservation and management of the natural and cultural resources of State and Commonwealth Marine Parks and Protected Areas.
3. Sound ability to plan and implement responses to a range of conservation issues relevant to protected area, marine parks management and wildlife (including emergency response).
4. Sound analytical, problem solving and research skills.
5. Sound communication, liaison and negotiation skills and skills in providing advice.

Mandatory Requirment

1. A degree from a recognised tertiary institution or formal equivalent, relevant to marine park management and the duties of the position, or
2. Prior learning/experience/education/training which has already been deemed by a recognised tertiary institution to be equivalent to a qualification.
3. Possess an unrestricted driver’s licence and be prepared to obtain a manual licence if required.

Salary

Salary per annum: $61946 - $67646
Salary per fortnight: $2374.40 - $2592.90
