Green Steps Sustianability Training & Consultancy

Green Steps sustainability work placements - Skilled and motivated students now available! Is your organization looking to take the next step in improving its environmental performance and reducing its greenhouse gas emissions?

Green Steps work placements:

  • Strengthen the sustainability initiatives within your organisation and provide opportunities for savings through greater efficiencies.
  • Set your organisation apart as one that takes its sustainability and climate change responsibilities seriously.
  • Prepare your company for new legislation and markets associated with national carbon reduction schemes.
  • Provide expertise, energy and creativity to develop or enhance sustainability projects/actions within your organisation.

    The Green Steps Program, run by the Monash Sustainability Institute (MSI) in partnership with the Australian Greenhouse Office, takes undergraduate and postgraduate students through an intensive training course in organizational sustainability and change management.

    As part of the course, students are placed in an organisation to work on a project (or projects) that delivers sustainability outcomes. Placement projects have included:

  • Establishing baseline data on environmental performance by conducting environmental assessments.
  • Strengthening an organisation`s commitment to programs such as the Greenhouse Challenge Plus by completing requirements such as the compilation of emissions inventories and developing greenhouse gas mitigation strategies.
  • Development of energy efficiency, waste minimisation and resource use reduction strategies, including the design and initial implementation of action plans.
  • Development and implementation of Green Office style behaviour change and awareness raising programs for staff.

    During the placements, students are supervised and mentored by experienced organizational sustainability practitioners from MSI.

    In 2008, students are taking part in Green Steps training courses in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane, and are available for placements within these regions.

    Placements run for a minimum of 12 days, with timing negotiable on a case by case basis.

    $3,000.00 + GST - Large private business & Federal/state government departments
    $2,000.00 + GST - Local government, Small to medium private businesses & Private schools
    $1,500.00 + GST - Non-government organisations & Public schools
