Queensland Pest Animal Symposium 2010 – Abstract submission now open!

The Queensland Pest Animal Symposium will be held at the Gladstone Entertainment Centre from Tuesday 3 to Thursday 5 August 2010.The Symposium will provide an exciting program consisting of new innovations, latest research and management techniques, community initiatives and policy matters.

The Symposium is seeking quality proposals addressing the overall conference theme of “Managing pest animal impacts – prevention, containment and monitoring”. Presentations will focus on pest ecology, environmental and production impacts, pest control, community engagement, monitoring for management and emerging impacts and issues including animal welfare. Abstract submission closes on 29 January 2010.

The Queensland Pest Animal Symposium will feature highly sought after Keynote Speakers including Kevin Stafford, Professor of Veterinary Ethology, Institute of Veterinary Animal and Biomedical Sciences, Massey University. Kevin Stafford is a farm animal veterinarian and registered specialist in animal behaviour. He has carried out research into different aspects of animal welfare in a number of species and has had two books and 180 papers published.  

An attendance of 150 - 250 delegates is anticipated over the three days of the Symposium and will include local government, land owners, government agency staff, Landcare and Community Project Officers, Agribusiness, pest animal researchers, contractors and university students.
