Australia’s leading resource for environmental employment, education and events
Our third Common Ground will discuss climate change ahead of the
release of the Carbon Reduction Scheme White Paper in December. In
light of Professor Garnaut's final report and its suggestion that while
a stronger target for emissions would be ideal, an unambitious target
is more likely, the need for optimism on Australia's ability to lead
the charge on fighting climate change is stronger than ever.
Who will speak?
Former NSW Premier Bob Carr and NSW Shadow Minister for Climate Change
and Environment Pru Goward will discuss their common ground on climate
change with the topic 'Australia should lead, not follow'.
Our keynote speakers will be joined by a diverse panel of voices: Fiona
Wain (peak body Environment Business Australia), Steve Hatfield-Dodds
(former CSIRO, now Department of Climate Change) and Imam Afroz Ali
(from the 'Australian Religious Response to Climate Change' initiative).
