2009 Melbourne Water Birrarung Celebration

Fire-Starter are currently seeking volunteers for the 2009 Melbourne Water Birrarung Celebration a unique event that will take place at the Moomba Waterfest program
Background:
The Melbourne Water Birrarung Celebration will be an extravaganza of water related hands-on activities, interactive learning, and entertainment all aimed at connecting the general community to river health and in particular to the Yarra River’s traditional owners, its natural environment, and its surrounding creeks and catchments.
The area will be an active event partner of the 2009 Moomba Waterfest program which sees over 900,000 people attend the entire program and will be located in Birrarung Marr alongside the Artplay building. The program will run from 11am – 6pm on the 7 -9 March and will feature musicians, roving performers, public artists and hands on environmental river health based activities.
We are currently seeking Melbourne Water staff to volunteer across the three day event. If you are interested please fill in the attached registration form and return it to Firestarter no later than January 16 2009.
Roles Available:
Site Crew: This role is for people that are able to provide general support to the activities that will be taking place across the weekend, it may involve working with the artists or activity leaders, providing general assistance as well as working with event organisers to ensure the event runs smoothly.
Stage Management: This role is for someone that is interested in events, and is able to volunteer for full days across the weekend. The Stage manager will be responsible for a specific area; ensuring that presenters arrive on time, assisting and ensuring that they are ready for their performance, meet and greet, ensuring they have all the equipment they need and that the day runs according to the times in the run sheet.
MC / Activity Leader: Do you have what it takes to be on the stage or in front of an audience or lead a group of people in an environmental focused activity? This person will need to have experience in public speaking and have excellent communication skills.
Information Staff: Information staff are required to assist the public and answer any questions they may have as well as booking people into activities that are taking place across the weekend. Ideally this person will need to have great communication and customer service skills.
