The
Environmental Jobs Network (EJN) is Australia's leading online resource
for environmental job seekers, professionals and career changers.
We also offer a unique and expanding range of services to the wider
environmental sector.
EJN
was initiated by a team of young people who were dedicated to providing
a comprehensive website where job seekers and employers could share
valuable information on environmental organizations, education,
careers and jobs. From our base in Melbourne, our team of volunteers
and employees continues to service the whole of Australia with our
innovative website, and to provide an expanding range of other services,
including seminars and facilitated panel discussions.

EJN
is principally a web-based service designed to:
- Facilitate
job searches for people seeking environmental careers.
- Help
organizations to find the best possible staff, by targeting a
specific group of motivated job seekers.
- Raise
awareness of an increasing variety of environmental careers.
- Promote
the uptake of environmental education.
- Provide
information on the evolution of the environmental jobs market
- Facilitate
a dialogue between schools, universities, employers and job seekers
to enable informed decision-making.
-
Promote environmental events such as the Sustainable Living Festival
We
achieve our goals through:
-
Our website accessed by over 2500 visitors per week.
-
Our jobs and events email, EJN
Weekly, which is sent to more than 7000 job seekers each week.
-
Our television series, EnviroPluck,
which was aired on Channel 31 between July and September 2004
to a weekly audience of some 30,000. The series has been published
as a reference for job seekers, as well as careers advisors in
secondary schools across the country.
-
Our volunteers,
who provide seminars for educational institutions and for our
other partners.
- Research
projects into environmental industry and employment in Australia.
The Guide
to Environmental Careers in Australia, in which we surveyed
over 600 environmental practitioners about their jobs and industry,
was funded by the Department of the Environment and Heritage.
The most recent was commissioned by Victoria’s Department
of Sustainability and Environment, as a contribution to the Greenhouse
Roundtable for Universities 2005.
As
a testament to the service we run, EJN has also been endorsed by
